Task System

Conductore includes a lightweight task tracker designed around AI-driven development workflows. Tasks are plain markdown files with YAML frontmatter — no proprietary format, no database, just files you own and can commit to git.

Task file format

Each task is a .md file stored in an external repository:

<tasks-repo>/<project-name>/<TASK-ID>.md

Example: ~/repos/ProjectsTasks/my-app/APP-001.md

Task ID format

Task IDs are automatically generated as <PREFIX>-<NNN>:

• Prefix: first 3 characters of the project name, uppercase (e.g., APP, CL-, WEB)
• Number: sequential, zero-padded to 3 digits (e.g., 001, 042)

Setting up the tasks repository

1. Create or designate a git repository for task files
2. Open Settings → Tasks and set the Tasks Repository Path to that folder
3. Conductore scans and indexes all task files on startup

Viewing tasks

Open the Tasks tab in the right sidebar to see tasks for the active project. The view shows:

• Status filter buttons (in-progress, todo, in-review, blocked, done)
• Task list sorted by status priority: in-progress → todo → in-review → blocked → done
• For each task: ID badge, title, priority indicator, type tag

Click any task to open the inline edit form.

Task dashboard

Click the Tasks button in the title bar to open the full Task Dashboard — a cross-project view showing all tasks across every project with filters by status, priority, type, and assignee.

Creating tasks

Click + in the Tasks panel header to create a new task inline. Fill in title, status, priority, and type. The ID is generated automatically.

Editing tasks

Click a task to open the inline edit form:

• Title — editable text field
• Status — dropdown
• Priority — dropdown (low / medium / high)
• Type — dropdown
• Assignee — text field
• Plan — textarea for the agent's implementation plan
• Sessions — list of linked agent session IDs with type
• Body — markdown content with a preview toggle (Ctrl+P)

Session tracking

When a terminal is linked to a task, Conductore automatically adds session entries as AI agents start new sessions. You can also add sessions manually in the edit form.

Each session entry records:

• id — the session ID from the agent
• type — claude-code, opencode, cursor, or other

Plan field

The plan field stores the implementation plan for the task. Plans can be:

• Written manually in the edit form
• Captured automatically from terminal output (see AI Agent Features)

The plan is displayed in a readable format when viewing the task.
